Christopher Bettencourt

Nach seinem Studium der Bildenden Künste an der University of California in Berkeley, dem California College of Arts and Crafts und der Academy of Art University in San Francisco – wo er 1990 seinen Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration mit Auszeichnung abschloss – startete Christopher seine künstlerische Karriere als freiberuflicher Illustrator in der San Francisco Bay Area. Schließlich arbeitete er als Grafikdesigner bei einem angesehenen Kunstauktionshaus in San Francisco und später bei einem führenden Abenteuerreiseunternehmen, wo er mehr als zwei Jahrzehnte als festangestellter Grafikdesigner, Art Director und Bildredakteur arbeitete. Als alleiniger Inhaber von Christopher Bettencourt Visual Arts (CBVA) arbeitet er derzeit freiberuflich für Geschäfts- und Non-Profit-Kunden und ist auf Printdesign für die Reisebranche spezialisiert.

Christopher liebt außerdem seit jeher die Fotografie und hat als Stockfotograf für AGE Fotostock in Spanien, AFLO Foto in Japan und Danita Delimont Stock Photography in Seattle, Washington, USA, gearbeitet. Seine Fotografien wurden international in zahlreichen Reisekatalogen und Broschüren sowie von der New York Times, der Audubon Society, dem Sierra Club und dem Magazin National Geographic Adventure veröffentlicht.

After studying visual arts at University of California at Berkeley, California College of Arts and Crafts, and San Francisco’s Academy of Art University—where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration with Honors in 1990—Christopher launched his career in the arts as a freelance illustrator in the San Francisco Bay Area. Eventually this led to work as a Graphic Designer with an elite art auction house in San Francisco and later with a leading adventure travel company, where he worked as staff Graphic Designer, Art Director, and Photo Editor for more than two decades. As the sole proprietor of Christopher Bettencourt Visual Arts (CBVA), he currently works on a freelance basis for business and non-profit clients, specializing in print design for the travel industry.

Christopher also has a lifelong love of photography, and has worked as a stock photographer with representation by Spain’s AGE Fotostock, AFLO Foto in Japan, and Danita Delimont Stock Photography in Seattle, Washington, USA. His photography has been published internationally in numerous travel catalogs and brochures, as well as by The New York Times, The Audubon Society, The Sierra Club, and National Geographic Adventure magazine.
